LAGOS: June 29, 2011 – First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc has achieved the International Organization for Standardization NIS ISO - 9001:2008 certifications for its Quality Management System (QMS) and operating processes.
The certification which was awarded by the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) is a confirmation of FCMB’s conformity with the requirements of ISO 9001: 2008 standards making FCMB the third bank in Nigeria to achieve NIS ISO 9001:2008 certification.
In a press statement issued by the bank in Lagos yesterday, Mr. Ladi Balogun, FCMB’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer said: “We are delighted to receive the NIS ISO 9001: 2008 certification for our organization. It is a mark of our commitment to attaining world class standards in all that we do. It is also an important step in defining our customer experience and ensuring operational effectiveness. This lays a foundation for continuous improvement and we expect that over time these standards will impact positively on customer and employee satisfaction, our revenues and our costs”.
"Moronfolu Fasinro, FCMB’s Management Representative and Group Head, Continuous Improvement/Service Quality, explained that the certification will ensure we continually improve on our processes.
Conveying the news of the award to the bank, Director General, Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) Dr. Joseph I. Odumodu wrote "I have the pleasure to inform you that the quality management system (QMS) of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc is hereby adjudged by the Standards Organization of Nigeria to conform to the requirements of NIS ISO 9001:2008 standard and your facility is consequently certified.
The certification was earned after a series of pre and main assessments of FCMB Quality Management System by a team of auditors from the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON).
